Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how OptiText ("the App", "we", "our") handles information when you use our mobile application. OptiText is a productivity app that extracts text from images using on-device Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology.

By using OptiText, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

• Personal identifiable information (name, email, phone, address)
• Images or photos you scan — they are never uploaded anywhere
• Extracted text or saved notes — stored only on your device
• Location data of any kind
• Device identifiers or advertising IDs
• Usage analytics, crash logs, or telemetry data
• Financial or payment information
• Contacts, calendar, or any other device data

All OCR processing is performed entirely on your device using ML Kit Text Recognition. This means:

• Your images are processed locally — they never leave your phone.
• Extracted text is stored in a local database on your device only.
• Deleting a note from the app permanently removes it from your device.
• No internet connection is required for any core feature.

OptiText requests only the permissions it genuinely needs:

• Camera — to capture images for OCR. Requested only when you tap the camera button. Never used in the background.
• Photos / Storage — to let you pick an image from your gallery. Not used to scan or access other files.

We do not request microphone, contacts, location, Bluetooth, or any other permissions. You can revoke permissions at any time via your device Settings.

OptiText stores the following data exclusively on your device:

• OCR scan history (title, extracted text, date/time, image thumbnail path)
• Your app settings and theme preferences

This data is never backed up to any cloud service by OptiText. It is cleared when you uninstall the app or manually delete entries.

OptiText uses only open-source Flutter packages. None of these transmit data to external services:

• ML Kit Text Recognition — on-device OCR (no cloud calls)
• Hive — local database
• Image Picker — camera and gallery access
• Share Plus — system share sheet (OS-handled)
• Provider, Flutter Animate, Google Fonts — UI utilities

We do not integrate any advertising SDKs, analytics platforms, crash reporters, or social media SDKs.

OptiText does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Since the app collects no personal data whatsoever, it is safe for use by all age groups.

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control at all times:

• View data — all your notes are visible in the History screen.
• Delete entries — swipe or tap the delete option on any history item.
• Delete all data — uninstall the app to remove everything permanently.

There is nothing we hold on our end to delete, because we never received it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.

Continued use of OptiText after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
